Dear Christmas,
I hate that you only come once a year. When you're around, I love that I get to buy tons of presents for my favorite people in the whole wide world. Actually, not so much the buying part of it, more so the wrapping & actual giving part of it. I love that you have an Eve which is actually a day set aside in the world to wrap said gifts. I love the wrapping paper that I get to pick out. Shiny and bright or matte and classy. Ribbon is always good, but why oh why is it so hard to get you to wrap all the way around these fabulous gifts to make them neat little packages?
My dear Christmas, I love that you only come once a year. More than once a year would cause too much pain to my little heart. I have to choose which family to celebrate you with. I have to choose one side or the other. I have to choose that choice I made so long ago. All over again. Every. Single. Year.
Breaks my little heart. Into even smaller pieces than before.
Thank you Christmas for all your wonder, twinkle lights, pine, presents, paper, ribbon, smiles, laughter, joy, merriment & most of all, Christmas, thank you for only coming once a year.
